CALL FOR ARTISTS! September News!

September Artist of the Month: Allen Moe

Allen Moe is an artist the likes of which people have rarely seen. His mediums include chicken feet, bones, fish parts, road kill, latex caulk, and a cement-like compound. The resulting artwork is unique, to say the least. The pots, which are fired in campfires, are adorned with skins, bones, and the like. His casts of the world around us, a world we normally walk right by, are a documentation that make one appreciate the earth in a whole new way. December Studio Tour: CALL FOR ARTISTS!

The winter Art Studio Tour is planned for Saturday, December 3 from 10:00 to 4:00. With a greater focus on marketing the event, we are now asking that participants consider a donation to help with the cost of improved site signage and promotion. The early deadline for indicating interest will allow us the time needed to implement the changes. Once you apply, we ask that you fully commit to participation because visitors to the event found it frustrating when an advertised site was closed at the last minute. We appreciate the suggestions for changes and are trying to learn from each tour to build on the success! Call to Artists, Application Form and Terms and Conditions are found down below. Participation does require a direct connection to Guemes Island. If you would like to offer to help with this project or the marketing elements, please let us know.

September 10 – Call for Artists Deadline and request for donations. For artists without a studio, we may be able to help you connect with another artist…. Do you have space for another artist or do you need a space to share? We offer some 5′ tables in reserved spaces at the community center.

• October 1 – Working with the donation budget, confirm the marketing elements and begin to implement. Development of a new Studio Tour map.

• November 1 – Roll out marketing at the beginning of the month that includes new signs, maps, media plan, etc…

• December 3 – Art Studio Tour from 10:00 to 4:00
